Sketching in cafes Sitting by the window gives a range of views inside the cafe and out. If you're in a cafe opposite a bus stop your models will practically line up to be drawn.
This is what making art looks like. Artists are all engaged in trying to make something new that the larger world cared little about. Favoured are those who are not likely to bore. This is a life lesson. They take the long view of people and how they operate, and what's possible given someone's personality. Art is made by people, it has a social aspect, make peace with it, accept it, and make your way through it the best you can. There will be bruises, but they need not be fatal.
Freeing yourself was one thing, claiming ownership of that freed self was another.

Nurture an ability to free up, encouraging quick but well planned hand movements to economize and make fewer, better marks.
