  4. A sketchbook is a very important space where much of your growth as an artist will happen. It needn't be a hallowed and revered space, kept neat and well planned. It should be a place where you are entirely free to do whatever you like: experiment, play, be rigorous and disciplined, be free,
frivolous. Above all, use it often.
